Flake and chip broadcast floors

Coloured vinyl chip is broadcast into a wet base coat, then scraped back and sealed. The result is a speckled, slightly textured floor whose pattern hides dust and tyre marks far better than a flat colour does.

The job

What's involved

How long it takes depends on the size of the slab and how much prep it needs — we give you that in writing with the quote.

  1. 01

The slab is ground and prepped, and cracks and joints are repaired.

  2. 02

A base coat is rolled on.

  3. 03

Flake is broadcast into the wet base, to refusal.

  4. 04

Once cured, the loose flake is scraped back to a flat plane.

  5. 05

A clear topcoat seals the surface.

Questions

Before you ask

What is the difference between a flake floor and a solid colour?
A solid colour is one flat tone. A flake floor has coloured chip broadcast into it, which gives it depth and texture and makes dust, marks and small imperfections much less obvious.
Is a flake floor slippery?
The scraped flake leaves the surface with some texture rather than glass-smooth. If slip matters for your space, tell us and we will talk through the options for that job.
Can the flake blend be matched to the room?
Yes — the blend is chosen per job. The gallery has floors in greys, blacks, blues, tans and whites so you can see how different blends read at floor scale.
